In the black community, it is so fucking rare to have a visible gay person representing us in the media. Whether it be character or an actual LGBTQ black person, they’re never on my screen.
I got so damn excited when they showed us that picture in season one and Rachel had a gay black man as her father. Because dammit somewhere there is a gay black boy out there who doesn’t have any role models. He doesn’t have anyone on the screen that looks like him. How is he supposed to think that he can have a chance at happiness if there isn’t a single damn example of it on television? The only black gay person I ever knew when I was growing up, was RuPaul. The only reason I even knew of RuPaul is because he was in that movie with Tyra Banks and Lindsey Lohan. And he was in drag in that movie. It’s not that I don’t love me some RuPaul because he is fierce. But it’s the fact that the stereotype that all gay men just like to dress up as women, is getting old.
I’m so disappointed in the way that they selected this character change. I wanted to see a black actor playing a happily married black gay man. A man that had a stable job, a loving husband, and a daughter he loved. A man whose character managed to still be happy in a small fucking town with ignorant people.
But no. We get another white gay couple who have a white daughter.
Maybe I’m over the top with this. But you know what oh well.
This is why I’m pissed off. To Ryan Murphy and other people, maybe it wasn’t a big deal.
But to me, it’s a big fucking deal.
I’m not talking about getting a break for myself.
I’m talking about a break for my mother that’s gone back to school even though she can’t afford it so she can stop working two jobs and can get another job that will appreciate her.
I’m talking about a break for my dad who’s worked the graveyard shift for the past 15 years only to be laid off from work despite the fact that he’s a hard and fast worker that was capable of being promoted and leading others in half the time that others were.
I’m so damn tired of people thinking that I just want a hand out.

What I want is a solution to a system that makes it possible for my parents to not be bone tired with every breath they take.

I was also old enough to know that people died doing brave things like trying to rescue people who were trapped in the debris.

Amy Lee has been around longer than her and is definitely more original. Not only with style, but with her music. I’ve never heard anything like it. But all of Lady Gaga’s music sounds like everything else on the radio. There’s nothing original about it.

I like Lady Gaga. I don’t like all of her songs. To be honest I like the earlier stuff she did and I like the acoustic/live versions of some of her songs over the over synthesized stuff that is in most of her songs.
Why don’t you complain about the other artists that have dominated the music industry? Why don’t you complain about Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, or Ke$ha?! Because to me all of their shit sounds the exact same. Hell you can take a Katy Perry song and loop it over a Ke$ha song and it is the exact same. So when it comes to originality. Yeah I think that Gaga is original. Because I hear her shit and I don’t hear it in someone else’s work.
I don’t think Gaga walks on water. I don’t think Gaga is the musical savior for gay people.
But you know what originality is overrated in this generation. It’s hard to find someone who doesn’t sample an older generation’s work. All the great original artists (Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Otis Redding, James Brown, Aretha Franklin) have had their time. Ask any musical artist today and they’ll tell you who influenced their work.
This entire generation is a revamp/remix of the older generation.
Accept it. Get over it.

If they’re going to restrict people from voting because they just “go with the flow of the times” then they should restrict every fucking person from voting. Because how many people voted for Obama just because he wasn’t George Bush? How many people voted for McCain just because he wasn’t the black guy or the woman? How many people voted for anyone just because their spouse told them who to vote for? How many people voted for someone just because they weren’t paying attention and they just picked the side they usually vote for in the past without listening to the debates, the person’s answers on significant issues, or anything?
To limit the youth from using their right to vote is bullshit and it’s against the constitution. If you’re going to take away their right to vote at 18 then you better take away all the other fucking stuff that happens when you’re 18. You better raise the age for when people can join the military. You better differentiate the way they are taxed. You better change the way their healthcare is seen(which is an entire different fucking argument).
The problem is that the GOP has yet to appeal to the youth in a strategic way or has yet to look out for the needs of the voting youth. That’s why Obama kicked McCain’s ass for the popular youth vote. Not because he was the “cool new young black guy” . But because when they had one of their key debates, Obama said up front that he was going to actually do something with college education. He said he as going to do something about students and insurance. McCain didn’t say shit. He didn’t mention anything about the youth at ALL. Now all of a sudden the GOP cares about the youth/the average college student because of the healthcare reform. They “don’t want the youth of tomorrow to pay for the healthcare bill of today.” Which is bullshit. How about those fucking wars we’re already having to pay for? Didn’t give a shit about us paying for them did you, GOP? No. You didn’t.
Needless to say. I’m pissed. But then again I’m always pissed at the GOP at their bullshit ideas to “help the country”. Because it usually revolves around how much money they’re going to lose and where they’re going to lose it.

2. You guys can’t move on from Pearl Harbor? Have you forgotten how America retaliated? ATOMIC BOMBS. Two places, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Civilians died, and for decades suffered radiation effects. Pearl Harbor is a military base. See the difference, weigh the casualties. Even Robert McNamara questioned the morality of America’s actions against Japan was commensurate to what Japan has done against the US.
3. Have you forgotten World Trade Center? Hurricane Katrina? How would you feel if people said the same thing, because let’s not forget Agent Orange in Vietnam, or the number of times the American government sponsored coup attempts in Latin America, or supported dictatorships.
4. Don’t fucking abuse Hindu beliefs and throw around the concept of Karma as if you know it.
5. The people who were involved in WWII are dead. These Japanese people who are affected by the quake and tsunami are the generations that pay taxes to the government. In effect, the same people who contribute so much to the United Nations, through aid and what not. The same people who gave their unequivocal support to the United States when the WTC attack happened. And you think they deserve this?

I just love when people try to prove their intelligence by demeaning and saying a country deserves something because of a few things they did YEARS ago. If you do that and I read it, I’m just going to think you’re a fucking asshole and a piece of shit.
I hate people who try to make America the “holier than thou” country. We’ve done our fair share of horrible things. But of course we’re America and when it happens to us it’s a tragedy. If it happens to other countries it’s because they did something horrible to America. That’s bullshit.
We’ve done some shit. But that average American doesn’t know about our shit. But then again even if we did show the average American about our shit, they’d brush it off and say it was a “necessary sacrifice for the good of the country”. Examples, torturing people in war, testing diseases on citizens or non-citizens of this country, cutting back on safety precautions and requirements to save a few dollars which would possibly expose millions to poisons or dangerous items, shooting and killing innocent bystanders in the Middle East, and most important of all, ignoring the fact that people are dying and being abused by their leaders until we can’t ignore them anymore.
So yeah. Don’t come to me and say that a country or people deserve a tragic event because of things they’ve done. Because if that were true, America would be blown the fuck up.

I love the people on my Facebook complaining about the price of gas.
They’re staging “No Gas Days” and boycotting gas stations.
They’re saying bullshit like, “It’s totally Obama’s fault…” or “The fucking terrorists are screwing with our oil. We should just nuke the whole place.”
I can’t even begin to understand the kind of logic they have.
First of all it’s because of all the shit that’s happening in the countries that we buy oil from. By shit I mean the revolts and the overthrowing of certain dictatorships. These people have been ignored and passed over for YEARS because all anyone cares about is their fucking gas money. That’s why it’s all over the news assholes. All you care about is the price of your gas? Yeah sure. It’s shitty. But there are people getting gunned down in the streets. Women getting sexually assaulted. This shit is WAY bigger than the price of gas money.
Second of all you can’t fucking blame everything on President Obama. He can only do so much as to cut ally ties with the countries who are violating ethic and human rights codes. He can turn down the chance to aid the people in power. But that’s it. He has no real jurisdiction in these areas. Unless you want to start another horrible excuse of a “war” by going in and forcing an American democracy onto another nation, then I suggest you shut up.
I’m so tired of ignorant people looking for easy things to blame. I’m so tired of ignorant people not looking at the bigger picture. Now, I don’t expect any kind of breakthrough message or anything from the Vans Warped Tour, believe me. I mean, it’s a corporate sponsored tour and really, what can we expect from it?
But at the same time, I’ve covered this tour for media outlets the past few years, and I know for many young women it’s how they’re introduced to the idea of “punk” and at least the appearance of activism. It’s a gateway, or at least it could be.
Yet this year, the Vans Warped Tour has made something glaringly clear: girls in bands are not welcome.
But rapists are.
The current band line-up features ONE female-fronted band, the rock group New Years Day, and NO all female bands. While in the past female representation on the tour hasn’t been all THAT impressive (in recent years their nods towards inclusiveness have included Katy Perry and the Millionaires) but there was at least SOME chance that a girl at a show could look up onstage and see another girl making music, fronting a band and getting her feelings out. There was at least some visibility of women making music reaching the teenagers who flock to the shows.
And this year, apparently, they only have one chance to see that. But don’t worry, they have an equally good chance to see a band fronted by someone who has been repeated accused of fucking his underaged fans.
Blood on the Dancefloor frontman Dahvie Vanity was arrested while on tour in 2009 for the rape and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl. While he, his people and his devoted fans have, naturally, denied this, there have continued to be allegations of not only THIS case being true, but of Dahvie repeatedly taking advantage of underaged girls while on tour. One of these cases involved AN 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL.
Even if Dahvie manages to NOT rape someone on this tour, the fans will still be subjected to Blood on the Dancefloor’s music. A sampling of their lyrics:

But what I AM going to do is ask the question, “Parental/Guardian figure, what the fuck were you doing LETTING your underage daughter go to this fucking event?!” If you’ve heard that someone is being “accused” of sexual assault and raping underage girls, WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU SUPPORT THIS?! WHY WOULD YOU ALLOW YOUR CHILD MALE OR FEMALE TO GO TO THIS CONCERT AND SUPPORT THIS BAND?! Also, did you look at the fucking lyrics to the songs they’re “performing”?! They’re fucking degrading and disgusting. Period. There’s no subliminal message that your child can learn from if they really take a look at the lyrics. No there’s just “your daughter’s a bitch and I’m going to shove my cock down her throat because that’s all she’s good for”. Why don’t you become an actual fucking parent and do your fucking job?! Look at the fucking roster before you by the fucking ticket. See who you’re exposing your child to. If you approve of the message, by damn ticket.
